After earning a Doctorial Degree in Finance and Economics, Dr. Jwanwat Ahriyavraromp, or “Dr. Tan,” started his multitude of careers as a university professor in the United States. But hold your seahorses! Dr. Tan’s journey took a tidal wave of a turn towards the marine world!

 

Shellhut Days: From Lecture Halls to Expo Halls

While Dr. Tan was teaching in the United States, his family was busy building Shellhut Co., a thriving shell crafts manufacturer, creating shell-shaped resin home décor products for export. When the company experienced exponential growth, Dr. Tan returned to rock the sea of products and became the Managing Director of Shellhut Co. Working with his whole family creating products promoting the sea, Dr. Tan set his sights on fully supporting the oceans and aquatic life, his true love, and set sail to create Shellhut Entertainment Co., Ltd., an animation company set up to produce a children’s series featuring the secret lives of sea creatures.

 

Shelldon’s Epic Odyssey: Making Waves Worldwide

In 2007, Dr. Tan shared Shelldon with the world and the animated sensation plunged audiences around the world into thrilling underwater escapades. This Thai masterpiece made history, and remains to this day, the only Thai animated series to play on NBC in the United States, airing in over 180 countries and translated into over 35 languages. Talk about making a splash! Shelldon showed the world that even one grain of sand can become part of something extraordinary!
